About the name and the logo

Didṛkṣā/(दिदृक्षा), f A desire to see; is a desiderative form of the root word √dṛś/दृश् or दृशिँर् - प्रेक्षणे. Since the "desire to see" is a prerequisite to the work in anything remotely related to visualization, and many easy combinations of English names (VCG, VGL, GVCL, TDAVis, SciVis, INSIGHT, etc) and easier sounding but related Sanskrit name (विवित्सु) are already taken, we choose the name Didṛkṣā.

The logo consists of the word 'दिदृक्षा' rendered in Deva-nāgarī tilted so as to form a diagonal, with the diverging colormap coolwarm which is one of the most commonly used colormaps in scientific visualization.
